  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

ftp accounts

Is it just me or do others think the design of plesk for windows at least if not *nix as well, would be more intuitive to the client, if there was an FTP Account link?

i see "protected directories" - which if i recall on plesk *nix this can create a directory that a user that you specify, can access both in ftp and http. so i am guessing this is the same case as with plesk windows.

but what if you want a directory that is protected only for ftp and not http, for a particular user who isn't the administrator of the entire site?

to confuse the issue, there is a "web directory" choice in addition to "protected directory". although perhaps "web directory" is the same as "protected directory" yet does not include ftp access?

i'm used to setting up "FTP Accounts" in my habits and i for one would like to see another button for this on all Plesks. it just makes more intuitive sense i think. and you could have a check box to include http access or not, and another for anonymous http access or not. i think that would be handy and intuitive.

so you do a "new" FTP account. you specify the directory location, the user, whether to have it http accessible or not to this user, and whether to have it http accessible or not to anonymous internet user.

then you can add additional users to have access in addition to the default one.

seems a handier way of doing things?

others' opinion?

Sounds like your coming from Cpanel (I would agree with you though). Do you know if their is a way to setup FTP users that can navigate outside their created directories ?

manually

i don't know if in plesk or not you can do this, but i know you can setup ftp accounts manually as a system administrator, in IIS. and it is your choice whether to setup the ftp account with user isolation mode (can't go outside their directory) or not. if not user isolation mode the user can go into their directory and any subdirectories off their directory. but you have to assign NTFS file permissions for this user manually on his/her folder.

it would be nice if this was a feature in plesk. and maybe it is by now i havn't tried plesk windows since my original post above.
