  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

ftp administration

Hi,
I have a virtual dedicated account with www.godaddy.com. I use Plesk version 7.5.4 through their system. I come from a Windows 2003 web server environment and the account I purchased is Linux.

I have several domains and I want to create several ftp user accounts with differing "root" folders on a single domain.

1) Does Plesk manage ftp accounts for me? if so, how?
2) Do I have to use a "putty" session and access linux to create/admin ftp accounts ?

Thanks,
Anthony

In Plesk you can add just one FTP login and password for every domain or subdomain.

but it is possible to use linux at the shell and administer ftp that way in order to have more logins right? (I am not a linux expert)

Thanks,
Anthony

I too had same issue and got a post from http://netfusionx.com/forum

You can add more FTP users in Plesk but they are called as web users and a directory for that user is created under the domain and the particular user can upload only in that directory.

Thanks,

Thanks, but I need the user(s) to upload some images which will be displayed by a webpage. Can we have Plesk create the folder under httpdocs folder ?

ie. If I create a web user called "camera1"

I want that user's ftp root folder to be: httpdocs/camera1

I assume for web pages the "root" is httpdocs right? this means that the folder created by plesk in the root folder under the domain is not available for http right ?

Is there anyone out there that can help me with a linux command to configure the ftp server ? It is Red Hat Linux. and I believe the ftp server is proftp.

also, it is a virtual dedicated account (shared) and not a dedicated machine so I dont have to "root" password.

Thanks,
Anthony
