FTP not working for a subdomain

I hope that someone can help. I have set up a subdomain which needs to have its own ftp.

I have set up the sub-domain sub.domain.com on the Control Panel.

Then in DNS, there are the following entries:

DNS Settings in domain.com:
sub.domain.com "A" 123.123.123.123 (my server IP address)
ftp.sub.domain.com "CNAME" sub.domain.com

Now when I try to ping ftp.sub.domain.com, it does not work, and I cannot get onto the ftp.

Can someone suggest what might be wrong, and what I can do about it.

For FTP access you can use IP address or sub.domain.tld name instead of ftp.sub.domain.tld. As for ftp.sub.domain.tld can be resolved issue make sure that Plesk is your DNS server and check all settings one more time. Probably it is DNS prorogation situation?!

Thanks for your help Dmitry. Having left it for the weekend, now it is working. I guess that it was simply being caused by the delay in the new DNS being propagated - I thought it would be almost immedaite because I could ping sub.domain.tld but could not ping ftp.sub.domain.tld.

Thanks for coming back to me.
