Gaining Root Access & Tomcat

Hi... I would like to know how to gain root acces from within plesk.
I have downloaded Putty and can get access to the chroot that is set up within the FTP account but I would like to change it to a true root access in order to go through the SSH console and install gd.pm (Pearl Module).

Also, I thought Tomcat was already installed. I have gone to the domain and it is disabled. I have tried to enable it in different ways but have had no luck.

Can someone give me a little guidance on these obstacles I've run into??

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ross

Hi Ross

It is not possible to gain root access through Plesk, you can use common linux way:
ssh root@server_name
through Putty.

As for Tomcat - make sure it is listed in Plesk CP > Server > Components management.
If yes, but you cannot enable it for domain make sure that Plesk license has this option enabled, in
Server > License management, ability to use Tomcat should be ON.
