Getting Custom Error Docs to Work

Mike Legg

Basic Pleskian
Is there a trick to getting Custom error documents to work?

I want visitors to be redirected to my homepage if they try to access a missing file.

I've enabled custom error documents, added /index.html as the custom 404 error file and I've restarted IIS.
I've even paded out the index.html with comments to make it larger (3k)

But when I type a non-existent url in my browser I still get the standard IIS error page.

I've run out of ideas.

Hello Mike,

Following are steps to disable detail errors in IIS7 :

On your server open IIS > click on web site at left pane > at right pane it will show all features > click on Error Pages > now at right most column, under Actions section click on "Edit Feature Settings..." > a pop up window will open > on this window you will find three options :
1. Custom error pages
2. Details errors
3. Details errors for local requests and custom error pages for remote requests

select first option "Custom error pages" and click Ok

Regards,
