Question Having difficulties setting up MySQL docker for use in Plesk

I've been wanted to set up an instance of Ghost in docker, and recently discovered that with Ghost 5, the developers now require the use of MySQL. My Plesk installation running on an Ubuntu Linux server uses MariaDB, so I thought I might try creating a docker container running MySQL 8 make that available as a Database server in Plesk.

I searched around for an example of how to do this, but the closet help I could find used MariaDB as a container. Here the the instructions I found:

I tested this in Obsidian for MariaDB and it works great. But when I try to set this up for MySQL, I run into problems. Here is my docker container configuration:

I then navigate to the Plesk tools to set up a new database server:

I cannot for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Anyone out there able to help me?
 
Your first attempt with docker was fine.

The new database server in Plesk just starts another/additional mysql/mariaDB server - what you already did with your mysql in the container.

Also you can do this, but in this case, your dockered SQL is on port 3307 and also the new SQL you tried to set up also on 3307.
 
Oh, I should have mentioned that I completely removed the first MariaDB container. There should be no port conflict with the new mysql container. Any other ideas?
 
Hi, I needed this MySQL Database for the same reason, hence how I found your post.

I can't quite explain why, but for me it worked when I set MYSQL_USER=ghost and mapped the internal ports 3306 and 33060 to 3308 and 33080 respectively.

Still used root for the login in the settings in plesk though.
