Hi all im trying to add a DNS entry which starts with a underscore _

    ie _name.domain.com

so then I can add the entry test._name.domain.com

when I use plesk 8.2 to add the entry it says its an invalid character although if I add the entry on my windows 2003 DNS server it works fine any suggestions or work around ?

An underscore is definitely an invalid character in a hostname. It doesn't look like you'd get away with it on all Windows systems http://support.microsoft.com/kb/149044. The article also quotes the relevant RFC's if you really want to know.

A underscore is valid at the start of a host name as per my above example.

I have configured a windows DNS 2003 to support a underscore at the start of a host name for a sub domain but not plesk on linux .. that’s my problem.
