To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Bruce McAlpine of Angstrom Lighting in Hollywood, CA. We have an iPower dedicated server hosting our websites; angstromlighting.com and angstromuniversity.com. We use Plesk v8.0 for linux and the Horde webmail does not work. You type in a valid email and password, press log in and you immediately go back to a blank log in screen. I have re-installed Horde and still have the same problem. Let me know if you have any suggestions or if you need more info to help me resolve this issue, thanks.

Sincerely,

Bruce McAlpine

Same problem

I have same issue on Plesk 8.

What I must to solve this problem. Thanks.

From the server, can you telnet to the IMAP port? (telnet localhost 143)

Result is like this ;

# telnet localhost 143
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1).
Escape character is '^]'.
* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 UIDPLUS CHILDREN NAMESPACE THREAD=ORDEREDSUBJECT THREAD=REFERENCES SORT QUOTA IDLE ACL ACL2=UNION STARTTLS] Courier-IMAP ready. Copyright 1998-2004 Double Precision, Inc. See COPYING for distribution information.

Horde is horrible, especially since it runs with Plesk. Whenever a Plesk update goes wrong (which is about every update), your Horde settings will most likely be reset.

Your best bet would be to install or have someone install SquirrelMail on your server.

here is the response from iPower:

Yes I was able to telnet to IMAP from the localhost as well as from remotely as my logs show. I believe the issue is from Horde not updating the existing database properly or adding the information from Plesk to it. Unfortunately I have already tried reinstalling it with no luck. You may want to try a different version than psa-horde-3.1.1-fc2.build80060613.20 such as an older one, but I can not be sure that it will correct the problem.

any suggestion or advice on his recomendation? OR do you have a better one?? let me know, thanks.

here is the reponse i received from iPower:

Dear Bruce,
Thank you for contacting IPOWER Professional Services.

The issue looks to be related to horde not updating the database properly when its being installed. I have tried granting permissions on the database and then reinstalling with no luck.

If you view /tmp/horde-3.1.1.log you can see the errors it is giving. The database tables that it says do not exist do in fact exist before and after the installation.

I've tried every combination I can think of to get this work. You may want to contact SWSoft and provide them with the information from this log.

Should you have any other questions feel free to contact us again via email or by phone at 1-888-511-4678.
