Hi,

I have a domain being hosted with a company called 123-reg, i want to now host it myself on my server with the Plesk 7 i have installed, but am not sure how to transfer the domain, any assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Aaron

are they using plesk or some other control panel to host the domain? You can use the plesk migration manager to move them from one system to another.

to be honest i have no idea, they a major hosting company in the UK, so maybe not, if they dont, how would i transfer the domain

I'm not completely sure what aspects you want to transfer -- do you meen the contents of the website and email, or just to get the domain name to "point" to your Plesk server so that you can use it for hosting the site?

If it is the latter then hopefully our getting started guide will at least give you some guidance:

Go to http://www.cymru1.net/linux-vps/vps-hints-and-tips.php and click on the Understanding and Setting Up DNS section.

Essentially you have two choices. On the assumption that you will continue to use 123Reg as your domain name registrar, you can either use 123reg's DNS management facility to change the A and MX records to point to your plesk server, or you can create your own namservers and point them to your Plesk server (which will then handle the DNS for the domain).

Both of the above options are covered in the page I linked to above.

I don't claim that it is the best-written document on the subject ever written, but it is mean to be friendly and easy to understand. In theory :)

Faris.
