How do I use a custom DocRoot

Greetings!

I'm in the process of transfering our websites from a custom server over to plesk. I have one major issue in doing so.

Our old webserver has a directory mounted using smbmount which resides on our SAN. Our apache uses this directory to serve websites.

I need to setup a few domains to use a home directory like this. I can change the httpd.include for the domain and it works until Plesk overwrites it. I also tried creating a symbolic link from the httpdocs folder of that domain to the path I want to use. This does not work at all.

Any idea's or thoughts on how I should do this? It's very important I get this working for at least 2-3 of our domains.

PS: We bought the full package of plesk so we have paid support. I'm just not sure how about getting the support other than calling lol

You'll find a support link in Plesk itself. It sends all the data about the current install along with your message. The icon looks like a life-preserver or something like that.

Anyway, if I recall correctly there's a single file you need to edit before installing plesk. But it can be done after installation too with a bit of work I think.

I'm sure the support guys will help.

Faris.

Thanks for your help!

I've decided to go a different route. I've setup a raid 5 array on my server. I would like to move as much of Plesk (at least the docroots) to this drive. I'm hoping I can find info on this tonight.

Try searching for forums for /var/www/vhosts and /home/httpd/vhosts

The former is the new way and the latter is the old location and in the posts that mention both you should be able to find the file you edit to change it. I'm not sure what effect this would have on an existing installation.

Of course the other way to do it would be to put a symbolic link in /var/www/vhosts to wherever you want. But that won't help with hardcoded paths in any existing files you might have would it? Hmm.....
