How does alias 301 redirect works in Plesk 11.5.30 (IIS)?

I know I can redirect domain alias to the domain using the setting in Plesk 11.5.30. I wonder how it works technically thought as I can't see any redirects set up in IIS or web.config. Can anyone hint or explain?

Binding will be created in IIS for alias and recorded in applicationHost.config
Corresponding DNS record in zone file also will be created.
