I am sorry if this question was raised and answered before. I tried to find existing answers but could not find them.
I have an existing productive Multisite-Wordpress setup in my PLESK administered server. Now I want to set up a staging environment to do some testing and debugging before disturbing the production version.
I found a "Clone" command in the WP Toolkit, which sounds nice. But the clone-dialog is not 100% clear to me.
I created a second Wordpress hosting on another domain that I only use for playing around. Then I installed Wordpress there. Next, I went back to my productive setup and clicked "Clone". On the upcoming dialog, I selected "use existing domain" and specified my 2nd domain that I want to use as the staging domain, but deleting the "staging" path suggestion. I confirmed that this means overwriting the existing (empty anyway) wordpress installation there.
Next I have to specify the database name. But here, I am at a loss of what I should enter. Should I enter the database name that was generated for the 2nd, staging domain wordpress? Should I type the database name of the original, productive site? Should I type something else entirely? I tried the staging domain wordpress.
The production version is working with PHP 7.4.33 and Wordpress 6.7.4. The reason is that if I try to upgrade either version, the website will fail to display. That is precisely why I need the staging site for trying to figure out the reasons for not being able to upgrade anymore.
But still it doesn't quite work. Can anyone help me?
