  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
    If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question How to configure nginx vhost manually ?

SMAHI

Basic Pleskian
Hi,
I Would like to configure an nginx vhost for my NodeJS app.
So How to configure nginx vhost manually ( the proper way )?
Please help.

Hi SMAHI,

depending to your configured listening port of your application ( I will use the example port "8090" ) you would for example add the application in the folder "app1" in your domain - docroot ( example: "/var/www/vhosts/YOUR-DOMAIN.COM/httpdocs/app1" ) , followed by adding an additional nginx directive at

Home > Subscriptions > YOUR-DOMAIN.COM > Websites & Domains > Apache & nginx Settings

like for example:

Code:
    location /app1 {
        proxy_pass http://YOUR_IP_ADRESS:8090;
        proxy_http_version 1.1;
        proxy_set_header Upgrade $http_upgrade;
        proxy_set_header Connection 'upgrade';
        proxy_set_header Host $host;
        proxy_cache_bypass $http_upgrade;
    }

@UFHH01 Thank you for your reply
i know this method, but i need to do it manually because i am willing to use Ansible to automate the process.
i need to configure the vhost manually from the console so that i can automate the process using Ansible.

Hi SMAHI,

if you don't want to use Plesk, you should consider to read the nginx - documentation, how to setup vhosts with nginx ( pls. keep in mind, that this forum is "Plesk-related" forum ;) ):

( Btw. the more information you provide, the better will be suggestions, that you get from people willing to help you, for "Plesk-related" questions/issues/problems/failures. )

I know that this forum is Plesk-related forum, for this reason i am asking Plesk expert like you sir, because i don't want to mess with system files that can break Plesk.
I already now how to create nginx vhost but i need Plesk way of doing thing without breaking it functionality.
Thank you in advance :)
