  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

how-to? track wordpress versions on whole server?

Sven L.

Regular Pleskian
Hello,
I don't really know where to post this. I know it's not specifically a plesk issue, but as I use plesk to resell webs and many users install (manually) wordpress, I thought I'll ask around.

I would like to know if this can be done with a single sql select or if I would have to use a script to do this:

- track all mysql databases on my server
- find the proper table in each database (as the prefix can be customized, the start of the table name will probably never be the same in two WP installations)
- find the proper field in that table and check the WP version and administrator email

and then what I will do is send an email to those adresses advising them to update WP

anyone has done something similar?

Sven

Hm, we have seen mentions of several mass-management tools like https://managewp.com or http://infinitewp.com/ ... Would it be what you meant?
As an alternative you can maybe built something custom on top of http://wp-cli.org/ - it might be easier than direct access to DB

BTW, since Plesk does re-ship WP updates in APS format and thus can already control WP version and also does remind to upgrade WP - do you think encouraging WP APS for your customers might make this problem easier? Or support for manually installed WP is critical requirement?

Hello Sergey L,

those products are "almost" what I am looking for.

sadly, they are all build around the WP login credentials. and those website are not mine, they are just hosted on my server, so I do not know (and I do not want to know) those credentials.

I just want to look into all databases in my server and find the WP version and the corresponding admin email to send them a notice.

About using APS that's a no-go for me, as I do not give panel or shell access to my customers and everyone can do with his FTP/DB/ETC whatever he wants.
I also know that some of my customers have special websites, based on WP, but heavily customized and an automatic update could break their whole web. hence why I only want to send out warning emails.

We have done exactly this for Joomla, Wordpress and Drupal with our hosting technology "G7Panel" http://www.g7cp.com/.
We can still do this for you on Plesk for a cost and you if you need details, PM me ...

Hi Sven,

You can track WordPress versions on Plesk server via new WordPress Toolkit feature available in Plesk 12. Let me know if this solves your problem.
