Is it possible to change the URL for webmail from a subdomain to a domain/webmail path server wide?

If this is possible then a clue on how to would be appreciated.

Why? I'd rather not have to provide a SSL certificate just for the webmail.domain domainname when a single certificate for the base domain would also work for a domain/webmail path. It wouldn't matter for a few domains but when there are 100's + involved then that is a lot of redundant extra SSL certificates.

I can suggest you read carefully "Virtual Hosts Configuration" chapter in Advanced Administration Guide and Appendixes B and C. I hope it will help you with this customization.
