Httpsdocs folder need cert?

I copied my files into the httpsdocs folder but when I type in the path https:www.mysite/file.html i get an error page.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need to purchase a cert to put on all of my httpdocs folders??(a shared cert?)

Any help would be appreciated.

The site that I am setting up has online purchases without a shopping cart. Until now I was just posting the info to the database on a shared secure server. Now that I switched to Plesk, how would I set up this scenario? How is the httpdocs secure? or would I have to purchase a cert. and apply it to all the shared SSLs???

What do you mean that the https takes you to the httpdocs folder? How does it know to make it secure?

As you can see I'm a little confused. I've worked with shared servers, SSL certs but I'm not sure how to set this up.

Thanks for your help!

Wow, this is confusing. All this time I thought that in order for my cert (browser) to not throw an error, secure content HAD to be in the HTTPSDOCS directory.

I have osCommmerce installed in my httpsdocs directory, and have a Virtual Directory in Plesk pointing /products -> httpsdocs/products but I am still getting errors (invalid certificate errors in browser). HELP!!!!

Thanks! :(
