So, a few weeks ago my hosts tell me that there is a vulnerbaility in 9.3.0, so I upgrade a few PHP files to fix it. Great. After the fix I figure that an upgrade from 9.3.0 is in order - it is after all a few versions old.
I have no test server to do the upgrade on, but I feel comfortable that an upgrade should work okay. At the very least I imagine that any upgrade of this nature will do some checks and alert me at installation stage if there are likely to be any problems, so I can back out.
So, I take a quick look at the 'Upgrade Instructions' and there are two 'IMPORTANT' areas to read. They are maked as important - so I read them. They do not say that installation of this will break my webmail. One assumes that if the areas are marked 'IMPORTANT' then the areas which ae NOT marked IMPORTANT are, well, not important.
I run the upgrade and reboot the server and - hey presto - calls start coming in to tell me 'my email is down' and 'webmail is not working'. Parallels want nothing to do with me because I pay my hosts for the licence. I have reported the problem to them *by phone to a human* but an hour later I am waiting even for the ticket to be raised.
I now find there are DOZENS of articles that relate to how Horde Webmail can be broken when you upgrade Plesk Panel 9.x and I am disgusted that Parallels would even release the upgrade without making it explicitly clear what issues will be created upon upgrade.
And yes, if you look here:
http://download1.parallels.com/Plesk/PPP9/rn/en-US/plesk-9.5.5-for-windows.htm
in the 'Known Problems and Limitations' section there IS a section that says "Subdomains with name webmail (webmail.example.com) are not migrated." - so perhaps I should have read this too - but for crying out loud where is the link from this that explains the resolution???!?!?!?!
This is a joke and I am extroadinarily unhappy about it. Come on, where is that customer focus?
Where is the fix, at least?
