Does any one experience performance bottlenecks for IIS ?

after crossing the 300 domain barrier we observe some problems with IIS web server

i.e when we try to stop/start a domain from IIS , or when we issue the command iisreset IIS gives an error like "service did not respond in a timely fashion". when we reboot the server the problem dissapears for a period of time bu again the same thing happens...

currently we have 550+ on that server , dual xeon , 2GB ram mostly light asp sites are running

i will be glad if you share you IIS experiences regarding to this issue...

Is your domains using dedicated IIS application pools? If so, it seems you need set shared application pool for most domains to decrease memory overload and prevent IIS from halts.

all the domains use the shared application pool of psa,

none of them has a dedicated pool.... howmany domains do you have on your IIS?
