  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
    If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

IMAP Mail Problem with Mac Mail

Recently upgraded to Plesk Panel 9.2.1 (from 8.0) and immediately had a problem with the IMAP accounts. Mac Mail is producing the following error;

**************
The server error encountered was: The attempt to read data from the server mail.smilinghill.com failed.
**************

I have restarted qmail and rebooted but problem remains. Should I be rebuilding a file/database somewherer? Is there a setting change I need to institute? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Problem Solved

Discovered an incompatibility with mail.app and the default settings for courier-imap in Plesk Panel 9.2.1

The MAXDAEMON and MAXPERIP settings for imapd in the /etc/courier-imap/ directory needed to be adjusted up.

There is a detailed account of this on the Apple Support Forum
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1213918

The default setting for MAXPERIP is 4 in Plesk and the mail.app will attempt to use 5 connections in IMAP to facilitate a speedy retrieval and sync of the requisite mail folders. Guaranteed conflict every time.
