include directive in vhost.conf?

Newbie question here.

I am on a shared host without access to the conf/ directory, so I can't edit vhost.conf

However I can ask the host to edit it once for me. Would it work if I ask him to place an Include directive in vhost.conf to include a file in another directory that I do have access to?
