Installing 3.0 on CentOS

OK, I have to ask the foolish question. Where do you get php5 for CentOS4? It's not in the "standard" yum repository. I caon't say that I'm partucularly happy that 3.0 requires php5.

In reading through the admin guide, I'm not too happy on the publishing site either. We can't just suddenly set default_charset="UTF-8" without breaking a lot of our existing sites. Now we'll have to put custom directives into each vhost for a sitebuilder site.

Frank

SibProgrammer,

Thank you. I saw that after we downloaded the tarball. When we try to rpm -Uvh *.rpm we get a ton of dependency errors. They are all for sitebuilder modules. Any ideas on that? I'll post the exact error messages a bit later.

Frank

Sure I can :)

We have all the rpm's (sitebuilder + modules + templates) in that one direcotry and then I just did a rpm -Uvh --test *.rpm.

I think part of the problem is that we're on CentOS 4.4. There is no remote admin for 4.4 (only 4.3) and I've asked support/the forum if we can use the 4.3 one.

Any thoughts?

Frank

ok. Got site builder installed (kind of sort of). Still don't know what to do about the remote admin. We're on CentOS 4.4 and there is only a CentOS 4.3 version. So...

there is no sb_config
there is no admin interface
templates won't install

Thoughts, suggestions?

Frank

Officially, SiteBuilder3.0 does not support CentOS4.4 ...

You have fresh installation or upgrade from SB2.x ?

"techinally" it's an upgrade, but we have no live sites so I don't realy care. I just went ahead and installed the 4.3 remote admin and all seems to have gone fine.

Down to two issues now

1) Where the heck is the admin interface?

2) Trying to install templates produces:

error: Failed dependencies:
sitebuilder_package is needed by Travel_pack3-3.0.20060921-0.noarch

Frank

ffeingol,

The admin interface comes up when you put in your url with /admin after it.

I'm having the same issue as you with the templates:
bash-3.00# rpm -Uvh *
error: Failed dependencies:
sitebuilder_package is needed by Agriculture_pack1-3.0.20060921-0.noarch

hehe. Yea, only /admin and not /admin/

Also, regarding the license, if you have a 2x version, you need to contact support to get a new 3 key.

======================
The key you're trying to upload is for 2.1.3. You need to upgrade it to new
key for 3.0. Please contact our sales department for detail.
=======================

Let me know if someone figures out the template install problem. (well, on CentOS that is...)

I logged a ticket with support. If they don't reply by the AM, I'll hit up my sales guy.

Frank

Hey, I did this:
rpm2cpio {rpm-package name} | cpio -idv
and copied the directories it creates to /usr/local/sitebuilder/htdocs/templates
and it works. I don't know if I am screwing something up but I just did Art and it works great...

Scratch that, it only worked for 1 template. I'll wait until support says something.

tnats,

Well post when you find out about the templates. It's kind of boring with only one LOL.

Frank

I did not get anything really useful from support, so I just ended up doing:

rpm -ivh --nodeps --force *.rpm

They seem to all have loaded fine and I'm buzzing away with it.
