Installing application on a sub domain

Hi all,

I have the problem when I want to install an application from the application vault, that it says that my root folder already contains a application from the vault, which is true, but with sub domain how to I select it to install there?

domain.com has wordpress installed, so I created forum.domain.com as subdomain.
On the domain interface I select the application vault, navigate to the PHPBB and select install
In the location of where it should install I tried to enter forum, /forum, forum.domain.com, subdomains/forum and nothing works, same error "Already installed application in root folder"

How do I get past this?

I have seen the there are some posts where people say you can select subdomain on a dropdown list, but I can't see that, is that function available in 9.0.1?

If I need to upgrade the plesk, is there a dummy guide on how to do this, and would I loose any data in the process?

According to 1and1 they do not offer service for the upgrading, so if I do, no help there :(

/Michael

In my experience you would need to setup the sub domain as a full blown domain in plesk in order to manage it like that.

So, what you mean is that I should create a normal domain in Plesk, install the stuff and the link for the subdomain should be that new domain?

Eg. I have a page called XYZ.com and wanted to have a forum running on the sub domain ABC.XYZ.com, but in order to do this I have to create in Plesk a new domain like forum.com and then link to that one?

I work on a 1and1 dedicated server plan, but when I have to create the domains I have to do it in 1and1 first and then plesk, would it still work if I did as above?

No, if you have xyz.com and want to have a subdomain abc.xyz.com you would create a new domain called abc.xyz.com in plesk and treat it like a normal domain. Then you can install applications, set different limits, use an ssl cert, etc
