Issue Installing spamassassin errors

RubenB

New Pleskian
Hello all,

I'm writing because I've come across an error which I am unable to resolve myself. The server is a VPS running Debian 8, Plesk Onyx 17.5.3 and is a clean install. I'm unable to install spamassassin, as it generates errors. The log of the install can be found below. I've attempted several 'fixes' to resolve the issue, but they don't work.

Attempted fixes:
apt-get autocomplete package name is broken
How to fix apt bash completion in Ubuntu/debian – DEVGET.NET
How to fix corrupted bash-completion in command substitution?

The same error prompts after running `apt-get clean`

I would try to reinstall the bash-completion package:

Code:
apt-get install --reinstall bash-completion

That might fix your problems.

Unfortunately I'm not entirely sure why you are getting this error then. Everything is working installing Spamassassin on my Debian 8 test VM. You have something weird going on their your environment.

Hi RubenB,

as this is a fresh installation, did you consider to start from scratch using the webinterface from your server provider to "re-install your server"? This might be by far faster than investigating your root cause. ;)

If you still desire to search for the root cause, pls. consider to start the investigations with identifying the package version and down- or upgrade it. :)
