  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Installing Tomcat in Plesk 11 with Ubuntu 10.04

KorXoman

New Pleskian
Hi,

I have an ubuntu 10.04 powered by plesk 11. My license doesn't cover tomcat administration. I would like to install tomcat by myself via console. I made a similar installation for Postgresql and I can manage my BD without problems.

My problem is that tomcat seems to be interrupted by some plesk process or something. I mean, tomcat doesn't start most of the times, suddenly stop logging in catalina.out, doesn's deploy war applications. My question: is there any plesk process that could interfere tomcat installation?

Thanks

Hi all,

I have exactly the same problem here. Installed Tomcat6 but it does not start most of the times.
Sometimes tomcat starts and listens on the port 8080 (Cheked it with "netstat -lnp"), but when trying to get teh dafault page with wget "wget http://127.0.0.1:8080/" i get a timeout. Most of the time there is nothing logging in the catalina.log.

Using Ubuntu 12, Plesk 11

Thanks for your help in advance!

Finally, I managed my problem with my VPS provider. It looks like a single core issue, nothing wrong with Plesk. I asked in other forum if you find useful Link

Thanks for your reply. I asked my provider to change the CPU to multicore but this was impossible because this would affect other customers too. So this is not the solution for "strato" customers.
But after reading your links and asking google for one more hour I found another solution for this problem:
This problem occures because of a bug in the "strato" Virtual server components but only if you are using the new ubuntu kernel. Downgrading the server to Ubuntu 10 (kernel 2.6.18) solved my problem.
