• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

IP addresses management

Since the upgrade to version 10, I enabled a second domain, and pointed it to the master IP address where I was only hosting the first (master) domain during my days using version 9.xx , all seemed ok, except there is a conflict with the SSL being that the certificate for the master domain gets called up on the secondary (slave) domain. I have indicated this in another thread on the forum here. There is no way to simply disable SSL for the secondary domain, but there is an option to insert a new SSL for the second domain. However , at this time I do not require SSL on the slave / second domain.

My provider / host has said another IP address will remedy the problem, but they are out of IP addresses at the moment. I currently have (2) ip addresses. I was told today, to take the master domain, point it to the second IP address which I understand was provided solely to utilize SSL on the master domain, which is required for that domain. However, in the IP manager, this IP address is not picking up any of the domains, and is instead showing an empty drop down box [NONE] showing as the default site. Its an exclusive IP , but if I switch to shared, the domains are still not located. My host / provider has also said to keep the secondary domain pointed to the first ip, but in the IP address manager, it will not let me deselect the SSL that has been assigned to it because its currently acting as the IP address for both domains. I am not very skilled in understanding the applications of IP addresses in DNS, but is there a simple way to do this, or am I best deleting everything , and creating these domains again in the new version 10 so they can be build to work correctly, or is this system working as intended the way it is?

UPDATE: My host recommended we switch IP addresses between the 2 domains, and assign the SSL cert to the domain requiring it. That was ok, however, the other domain not requiring any SSL stilll is only prompting that we use the other domains certificate, or the default plesk certificate in the drop down menu.

I am as as skilled with SSL as I am familiar with IP address settings, but is there a way to at least generate a 'safe' or 'neutral' SSL certificate using open SSL? The plesk certificate still will give a warning when used for a domain if a user attempts SSL access to it.
