I’m pretty new to the world of hosting control panels and recently started experimenting with a small personal project—just a lightweight portfolio website with a blog, maybe some email down the road. I’ve been reading up on Plesk and it seems incredibly feature-rich (which is awesome), but I’m wondering:
Is it overkill to use Plesk for something this small?
I’m currently on a VPS with minimal server management experience. I was considering setting things up manually with Nginx and basic FTP, but Plesk’s UI and built-in tools look super appealing—especially the security features and extension support.
I’d love to hear from others who use Plesk for solo projects or small personal sites.

- Does the extra layer of abstraction help or get in the way?
- Are there any “lightweight” best practices for using Plesk without overwhelming the server or myself?
- Would you recommend Plesk over something like Webmin or just going manual?
