Is it possible to disregard a chosen type of files during backup?

Is it possible to disregard a chosen type of files e.g. .tiff during an automatic backup?
I have a lot of graphic files on the server and it takes too much space when copied.

As far as I know, no. But you can check this script (PRO version) http://www.grafxsoftware.com/faq.php/Automated-Remote-FTP-Backup-shell-script/1/6/ - this will do this.
