Question Is it safe for Plesk to rename the Windows "Computer Full Name" ?

Alex Laforge

New Pleskian
Hi,

I have Plesk 12.5 installed on a Windows 2012 R2 Web Server.
Under the Computer "Properties", I can see that this machine have a default "Computer Name" and a default "Computer Full Name".

I would like to change them to reflect a more useful name :

- Will Plesk run into issues if I change the "Computer Name" and "Computer Full Name", or is it safe ?

Thank you very much :)

The following screen capture displays the information I need to change ("Computer Name" and "Full Computer Name").

As far as I know we don't use "Computer Name" and "Full Computer Name" in Plesk. Therefore you can safely change it.

Hi Igor, I did it : No issue : Works Well ;)

Additional question : Can I rename the Root Server Name at the top of the IIS manager ? When I do so, before closing IIS warns me that :
"The connection list has changed. Do you want to save changes?"

 I do not know what this implies (will it change bindings ? break them ?). So for the moment, I decided not to validate this Root IIS Server Name change.
Tell me what you think @IgorG ;)

You can safely rename it too. It shouldn't affect something in Plesk.
