  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Loosing mail after upgrade (Qmail/Postfix)

Hello

I upgrade to the lastest 10.X version during the weekend and it seems to have changed from Qmail to Postfix, unfortunatly it seems that a alot (all that have reported) of users have lost mail in their inbox and other folders.
The old storage seems to have been /var/qmail/mailnames/ right?
I just wonder how I can restore all their old mail as quickly as possible without reverting back to Qmail.

It shouldn't have lost any mail as whether you are on Postfix or QMail on Plesk all of the mail gets stored in the same folder that you mentioned.

I agree, but I still have a client that is missing mail for all his users, most of our clients use us for webhosting and not mail so I react when even one client complaints about their mail.

Did you tell them you were upgrading? Or did they complain to you without you even mentioning you were upgrading / changing the server?

If they complained without you mentioning anything was happening with the server then I guess something could have happened to their mail otherwise it's a big coincidence.

But if you todl them something was happening then maybe they accidentally deleted it and are blaming the upgrade.

I upgraded to v10, I was on Postfix, and everything stayed. It is strange that you say that when you upgraded it switched you to Postfix from QMail though.

Any one else upgraded to v10 who was running QMail? Maybe they can chip in.

I think I found the problem!
/var/qmail was linked to /mnt/disk2/qmail but it was removed with the upgrade for some reason, not good :(
So the installer removed my link, bad bad, bad ,bad... I just wonder how I now can fix it without loosing a few days worth of mail!

The whole of /mnt/disk2 was removed?

Either way this is very bad.

Do you know why it was linked to /mnt/disk2/qmail in the first place?

Do you not take backups each night then? I guess the only way to get some back is to restore.

No only the link was removed, it was created to add additional diskspace since the directory needed it.
Now I am stuck with two Maildirs and no way to merge them... Thanks Parallels!

At least the files weren't actually removed! So you do have them.

Maybe you can create a new temp mailbox for each user, then copy their old email folder into that one. Then if you use a client such as Thunderbird or Outlook you can drag emails across from one account to the other. Good luck.
