• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

Mail bounces for full mailboxes are not explicit

Parallels Plesk Panel v10.0.1_build109101029.19 os_RedHat el5 64bits

Postfix Mailer Daemon bounce a simple "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender" when Mailbox is full. The bounce is not clear with this root cause and user is confused.
Send a email message to a mailbox with space used over limit configured (USe the maximun limit ofr the domain). You get a bounce that don't say the cause of bounce, just bounced.

ACTUAL RESULT
Remitents of email messages receives bounces from PSA Postfix server that dont specify root cause (mailbox full), just said "Message can't be delivered"

EXPECTED RESULT
Remitent should receive a bounce that specify the root cause of bounce. Example: Mailbox is full

This is the mail system at host pleskserver.com.

I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below.

For further assistance, please send mail to <postmaster>

If you do so, please include this problem report. You can delete your own text from the attached returned message.

I think this is typical behaviour.

If you need to warn users that their mailboxes are getting full then there are scripts on here to do so. This is what I have implemented. You need to warn them (by sending them an email) when they are 80% full and say that they will not be able to send / receive mail once they reach 100%.

I wasn't clear

Thank'u, but I mean a response to sender, not adressee. In PSA 10.0.1 with Postfix, the bounce to sender just said "Message not delivered" but I need that it say "Mailbox full", or suitable reason.

have you been searching in postfix forums for this? this is a postfix behavior. if it is possible to change that error-message in postfix you ll find it in postfix docu or forums. if its not possible i think parallels cant do anything.

but if its possible you are right, it will be a good idea that parallels change this error message.

It's possible, file bounces.cnf do'it but I think PSA should cover this like previus versios os mail servers used (qmail). I already maked my workaround, but I hope this could be resolved in next patch.
