Issue Mail cannot be verified, is username or password wrong?

So i decided to switch my mail-server to be managed by plesk on my main domain, added the email, setup alias etc..

web-mail now working great and i can send and receive the mail. i wanted to try and add the email to Thunderbird on my main PC at home.

adding all the credentials it asked and i now have the error @Configuration could not be verified -- is the username or password wrong?

obviously i checked triple checked and quadruple checked the credentials and even tried to change them just in case. still to no avail.

anyone had this before? where should i be looking? i checked firewall settings and everything is open that needs to be.
