Mailman problems

Iam new to Plesk - had a few problems migrating sites in - to the extent that I deleted everything and started again with one domain. the domain has mailing lists - however i am now getting errors stating that I cannot create a mailing list with the same name - old lists do not seem to exist anywhere yet I am unable to create a new list with the name of an old deleted one - I am assuming that the aliases are sitting somewhere - i just can't seem to find them - any pointers as to where i should start looking please
