Resolved Manual installation with "MySQL" --> "MariaDB" installed

MartinB

Basic Pleskian
Hello !

At the moment I move to a new Plesk installation ( 17.8.x ), after copying
one of my websites, I was surprised about that :

Datenbank-Server
  • Server: Localhost via UNIX socket
  • Server-Typ: MariaDB
  • Server-Version: 10.1.34-MariaDB-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 - Ubuntu 18.04
  • Protokoll-Version: 10
  • Server-Zeichensatz: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)

Is MariaDB now instead of MySQL installed ?!
If so, why is only "MySQL" selectable at the manual installation ?

Thanks for any help !

Bye, Martin

Hello,

During the install process, if MySQL/MariaDB isn't already installed on the server, Plesk will install the default MySQL server depending on the linux distribution.
On debian 8 Jessie, it was MariaDB 10.0, on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS it's MySQL 5.7 ,and on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS it's MariaDB 10.1.

If you want to choose the MariaDB or MySQL release to use with Plesk, you can install it before launching the plesk installer (without setting root password)
