• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

Manually migrating from cpanel to Plesk

Well... my day just seemed to take a turn for the worse.. :)

We currently host our website with a reseller, who is using cPanel 10.x.x. We have set up a web server locally, as we want to do the hosting ourselves (security reasons, mostly).

I contacted the reseller, as I needed to have shell access to be able to run migration manager. I was told by them that they have disabled all shell access for all accounts.

Now I have to do everything the old fashioned way.

Is there documentation anywhere about manually moving files from one server to another? Or is it just a simple matter of ftp'ing in and copying everything over (and keeping directory structure the same)?

Thanks,

Rudy

You'd need to just FTP in really. Perhaps your existing provider would accept a small fee and run migration manager for you with their own shell account?
