For some reason my memory usages only goes up on my server. when I reboot, It starts out at about 50% of 1 gig. After a few days, it is at 99% memory usage.

At the point of 99% the most active domains that I have start to display the plesk default page...

Any ideas on this memory problem?

What does top (in SSH) tell you?
Sort your top display by memory usage, and paste the results.
SHIFT-M will sort my memory.

Do you need tomcat? If not, turn it off/remove it. I've had all sorts of problems with Tomcat running and breaking things, even though there are no users/applications actually using it.

Faris.

One sugestion:

If possible disable JAVA, if not try split the server in 2
one to java users.. other for non-java.

In our case there is no site running Java... if this is enabled the mem, and cpu still high

We running on FreeBSD... plesk 6 / 7.1.6

Tia

Things are still breaking. I STOPED Tomcat from running and the memory usage still creeps up to 99% in a day or two. When doing a TOP with Shift - M don't see where this memory goes....

Any ideas... anybody?

Just so I know, has anybody had this problem of memory usage only going up?

-TED

yes, the first thing we killed was dr web antivirus .. total memory hog when lots of spam started coming into the machine.

Next is look and see what you have in your mail queue, downoad a perl script caled qmHandle

http://sourceforge.net/projects/qmhandle

I regulalrly go in and clean up the queue, there's another program called qmail-remove that will delete mail from the queue matching specific words

Total Used Free Shared Buffer Cached Usage

Bar Begin 98.63% used 1.37% available Bar End

Any ideas what what will cause my Cached memory to rise to 671.69 MB after 5 hours of being on? I am only running 6 hosts.

Solution?

Did you ever solve this? I'm having the same problem and can't find any answer elsewhere in the forum.
