I used the Plesk migrator to migrate one of a few Sitejet sites to a new server. The first one was a simple site and all went smoothly. It works on the new server and I can edit in Sitejet the same as when it was on the old server.
The second Sitejet website that was migrated seemed to be fine too. Unfortunately, I was experimenting around with other things on that particular subscription before re-pointing the domain name to the new server and messed things up. No problem, I thought. I will just delete the subscription and migrate it over again. What I didn't realize is that when you migrate a Sitejet subscription to a new server, Plesk Migrator transfers your Sitejet key to the new server and REMOVES it from the source server's subscription. So by deleting the migrated subscription on the destination server, I effectively wiped the key. This means that I can't get in to do anything on the website on the source server and migrating it over just gives me that keyless Sitejet site on the destination that I also can't open in Sitejet.
I have found posts that say Plesk support has to manually recreate the key so I went to submit a support ticket:
Plesk kb article
They ask for your Plesk license key to allow you to submit the form so I put it in. It gives me a message that this is supplied by a reseller (it is part of an IONOS dedicated server AlmaLinux 10 / Plesk panel package), and I would need to contact them. It will not allow the form to be submitted.
IONOS, notorious for horrible customer service, absolutely refuses to do anything regarding software when you get a dedicated box. EVERYTHING is "out of scope" of their tech support unless your server is on fire or something. They say you have to deal with Plesk since they are the panel / extension provider.
So I go to the Sitejet forum for Plesk (Webpros owns all of this anyway) and THEY say submit a support ticket with Plesk to have the key manually re-assigned. I CAN'T! Webpros has it rigged so they avoid support at Plesk and Sitejet but IONOS only will address actual hardware failures. "It is up to you to manage your server software." It is absurd that Plesk won't provide support to a valid license key because it came from a reseller. I paid for, and they got paid for, the license via the reseller food chain so they should provide support for the panel like they do for everyone who buys directly from them.
Is my only choice to just rebuild the site minus Sitejet (which I am fully capable of doing as a full-stack developer)? I tried Sitejet on a couple of simple sites as a test drive, but after this experience, I'm thinking I certainly won't use it or recommend it to my customers. Once I rebuild the other couple of sites to remove Sitejet, that extension goes away.
