Migration of accounts to new server

Hi,

I want to migrate Plesk accounts from an old server to a new server. Where is the best information/documentation/tutorial to review before undertaking this?

Is there anything I should know in advance?

Thanks in advance for your help...

:)

Go to the documentation section, open the Administrator's Guide, browse to Server Your Customers > Migrating User Accounts, Domain Names and Web Sites from Other Hosting Platforms. This will tell you how to use the Migration Manager to do this.

One thing you should know is that any directories created outside of a domain's httpdocs and httpsdocs directories will not be migrated by the Migration Manager. If you have any such directories you'll have to copy them over yourself afterwards.

Thank very much for your help. Much appreciated.

How about ip addresses? It says you select the ip address you want the migrations to goto. But by changing ip addresses it takes time for all the dns to realise the new address. Do any problems arise here?

Would another option be to do the migration to a new ip address. Then get the old ip address moved to the new server and then change the ip on the new server to the old ip address?

If is not in the same datacenter, then you can easily add old IP to new server and migrate and then ask for reroute. If is in the same datacenter, then is bad.
