1and1 hosting is the worst (no news here). I'm switching to MediaTemple this week.
I'm migrating from an 8.0.1 server to 8.1.0 server
I'm moved over all my files and databases. Site is running great on the new server. Its a dynamic site so I want to accomodate for the DNS lag time.
I would like to temporarly enable an external mysql database server on my new Media Temple Plesk server so I can switch the old site to connect to that DB until the DNS switches over. (I've lowered the TTL time to 2min).
Do I need to create a new Database Server with my IP (not localhost)? cause I'm having problems doing that. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to use the same admin user/pass as the existing default mysql server thats there. or if I have to use somethign different. both generate an error.
Any help is apprecaited... please hurry.. my 1and1 server dies multiple times a day. they are the worst. did I mention that? WORST!
