Missing icons in Plesk 9.2

Hi all,

I'm having a weird issue on my Plesk 9.2.1 installation (running on CentOS 5). When I login to the control panel using Internet Explorer 8, I do not see any icons above all the options. When I login using Firefox, I do see the icons, so they are there, but IE can not parse/show them? I already tried adding the domain into the "Trusted Sites" list, to no avail. I also have seen this same issue on other Plesk 9 servers, but do not know a solution. Anybody has any suggestions on how to get the icons to show up in IE?

Try "Compatibility mode" (click on "Compatibility View" to get more information):

Hello,

If you are facing any abnormalities in how Parallels Plesk Panel is displayed, make sure that the browser you are using is supported by Plesk. This information can be found in the product requirements on http://www.parallels.com. For the current Plesk version the page is http://www.parallels.com/products/plesk/reqs/ (Requirements tab).

Currently, Plesk supports the following browsers:

* Firefox 2.0 and above
* Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x
* Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.x
* Mozilla 1.7 and above
* Safari 2.x
* Safari 3.1

As you can see, currently Internet Explorer 8 is not supported by Plesk.

Then I suppose IE8 support is your highest priority right now and that you release a patch within a few days. All you have to do is to take the 9.2.1 branch and provide it with the IE7-compability meta tag as a temporary solution.

IE8 is gaining market share incredibly fast (will soon reach 20%). Probably because Microsoft is pushing it out as an important update. Ignoring this is not a good idea and rely on the user to turn IE7-compability mode on is not a viable solution since most of the IE-users probably don't even know what compability mode is.

Hope to see the patch/hotfix later this week...

I do not want to do a work around. The #1 Browser in the World should be fully supported. I am a Firefox person myself but I understand that I need to design my software and sites to be compatible with IE 7/8. Surely a company your size understands that too?

IE8 will be completely supported in the next Plesk version which will be released soon.
BTW. IE8 is not browser #1 in the world according this statistics.

I am glad to hear that it will be supported. Nice link, I was referring to IE in general as being the #1 Browser but it is interesting to see that according to that site it only a couple of percent behind.

The majority of IE 6 users, atleast from what I've seen, are corporations that still haven't moved to IE8 yet. The majority of personal / small businesses are on IE 7/8 according to my detail. The personal / small business owners are my client base

9.5 is out and I still don't see support for IE 8, is this accurate? I am also not seeing Icons in IE8.

Regarding your comment that IE was not that widely used, just looking at visitors to our website 68% use IE and 64% of those use IE8, so that seems fairly common to me.
