moving site problem

I have to move a site from another server to a new one where I have root access and plesk 8.0 installed.

What is the common procedure to do that, so i can test the site on the new server, until setting the DNSs and halting the old server?

I created a new domain with plesk, and removed all DNS services on the new server. but I have no idea how to access the vhost that plesk created. Can someone give me a best practice hint for such a situation?

Cheers

First of all make a back up of the domain using plesk

Backup>backupnow> leave radio button on local repository > backup now

You should then be able to download the file.

Then in the new server

click back up > upload file to repository > (upload the file> now click on the file >

This will restore the file (hopefully with out the conical name problem)

then click preview site preview and see if it loads fine..

the preview generally will only let you see the first page on the new server ( if you have not transfer you domain yet), if you want to view through the whole site, see below link on how to get your computer to read the new server before reading the server or your actualy domain

Thanks for your reply. I will try that.

As for accessing the new site, I've done it using a new subdomain for the new server as an alias on apache server.
