Resolved mysql.sock is empty

The file
/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
doesn't contain anything.
/usr/local/psa/admin/conf/php.ini
doesn't contain a line with the path to mysql.sock (but it should ?)

some articles refer to the mysql/tc.log - the file doesn't exist (here)
