  • Support for BIND DNS has been removed from Plesk for Windows due to security and maintenance risks.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS.

hi, do i need to set up my name servers myself or are they already done. i have set up one domain but not sure what the name servers are for this. can anyone help

Yes, you need to set up your own nameservers. You can use your Plesk server to do this for you. Note that Plesk will set up your domain's DNS when you configure your domain for hosting, but you'll need to double check to make sure that it fits your needs and also that the SOA is correct. Then you need to be sure that your registrar has the correct nameserver info so that the domain will resolve.

If you need more info than that, check the documentation and some DNS primers.

what do i call the name servers anything i like? what documentation shows you how to do this?

typical convention goes with ns1.DOMAIN.TLD and ns2.DOMAIN.TLD, but yes, you can use whatever you like. Just so long as you are consistent with your SOA, A records and what's on file with your registrar.

so i can have like ns1.stardaisy.co.uk? do i need to own that domain address or is it just a record. im a virgin to this so forgive me

yes, you ideally need to control the domain you are creating nameservers for.

ow ok, i have some domains that i own should i use one of the for the host name. I looked up the name server and it said the correct ip address.
