  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question Necessary services DNS, Webmail and Mail hosting

Plesk version and microupdate number
Plesk Obsidian 18.0.59 Update 1
Hello everyone!!!

In my new hosting with PLESK Obsidian I am finding it comfortable to configure and manage it. I wanted to ask a question, it is interesting to have the BIND DNS Server services activated and running if it turns out that I have my DNS in CLOUDFLARE and on the other hand the WEB SERVICES / MAIL HOSTING services are also activated and running.

The machine is really only useful for web hosting. There is nothing else.

Does it seem interesting to keep it or better to uninstall it or better not to change anything? Unless basic services are needed for the internal functioning of PLESK itself, I'm new and asking myself that question.

Thank you, have a good weekend,
Luis

We do run Plesk servers without DNS (bind9) installed and it works just fine.
You can also just disable the DNS service for your domains/subscriptions and keep bind installed on your server.
