  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Need help getting Slave DNS Manager to work

Chris1

Regular Pleskian
Hello,

I've got a Plesk 12 server with the "Slave DNS Manager" extension installed.

I've also got a CentOS 7 server that I would like to set up as a slave DNS server.

I've installed BIND on the slave server and opened ports 53 and 953.

I've followed the instructions on this page but I can't seem to get a link between the two servers:

http://download1.parallels.com/Ples...extensions-guide/index.htm?fileName=73349.htm

I've also tried the config that the Plesk panel provides like the case in this thread, I get the same results:

http://talk.plesk.com/threads/need-help-configuring-plesk-slave-dns-manager.311750/

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm getting the following error on the slave DNS server:

Apr 26 00:49:37 ns.example.com named[3038]: invalid command from XXX.XX.XX.XXX#45617: expired

I'm getting this error in Plesk when I hover the mouse over the red exclamation mark:

Error code 1: rndc: connection to remote host closed
This may indicate that
* the remote server is using an older version of the command protocol
* this host is not authorized to connect
* the clocks are not synchronized, or
* the key is invalid

Could I please be advised what exactly I have to put in Plesk and what I need to put into named.conf?

I worked out the problem, it did end up being a clock sync issue. I installed and configured NTP on the slave DNS server and it is now connecting.

How can I read the DNS zones on the slave DNS server? When I try to read /var/named/domain.tld it says that it is a binary file and it isn't really readable.
