• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Hi,

I have been given the task of running a Plesk panel for the first time in my life. I've been accustomed to Cpanel/WHM with Fantastico and RVSkin. I suppose one gets used to one's habitat.

Anyway, now I would like to be comfortable with Plesk 8.2 on RedHat 5.0 ES.

I am looking for basic things such as how to upgrade Apache, PHP, Perl, MySQL, Postgresql and such. But unable to find it. The Plesk interface is quite pretty but a bit dumbed-down for real admin tasks, or am I missing something?

Many thanks for any pointers. I went to the Plesk help thing and typed "upgrade apache" without quotes and found "0 results"!!

As a newbie myself I recommend ART's channel for YUM too. Also his subscription security channel for YUM is worth using too.

The guys on this forum help me, and complete newbie to Linux not only setup a CentOS 5 box, but also get plesk on it and updated.

I have almost finished my complete dummies guide to CentOS 5 and Plesk install, which includes all the helpful pointers people on the forum have given me. I will credit them all once its complete, and I have got a forum user to verify the guide.

In the mean time add ART's channel to your YUM using the following:-

# wget -q -O - http://www.atomicorp.com/installers/atomic.sh | sh
# yum update
