• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

TITLE

[nginx] Create custom configuration for a single domain

PRODUCT, VERSION, OPERATING SYSTEM, ARCHITECTURE

Plesk Obsidian v18.0.25_build1800200325.19 os_Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS, x86_64

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

I'm trying to host a docker-application with a kind of strange architectore (pydio cells).
The docker-container listens to https-request which means that I cannot host the application using docker proxy rules.
Additionally there is a separate port that listens to GRPC-requests (as nginx isn't able to handle http2-requests with both grpc and http requests in it).

I found myself unable to create a custom server-entry for a single domain as the guide I found here: Defining a Custom Virtual Host Template applies to all future domains.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

Create a fresh Ubuntu 18.04.4 installation
Install plesk using the One Click Setup
Try to serve the pydio/cells docker-container

ACTUAL RESULT

Plesk doesn't allow me to create a custom server-directive for a single subdomain.

EXPECTED RESULT

I should be able to create a custom server-directive for a single subdomain.

ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

YOUR EXPECTATIONS FROM PLESK SERVICE TEAM

I'd like to know whether I've overlooked that feature.
If not I'd be glad to go create a feature sugestion, ofc :D

From our developer:

Customer uses wrong KB article. The one he uses is about virtual host file structure template which looks like not his case. He should instead look into configuration templates as virtual host template contains only files and not related to configuration.

Suggest to look into this article instead: Changing Virtual Hosts Settings Using Configuration Templates
