osCommerce admin authentication fails

morgan.walker

New Pleskian
Hello,

We recently had a client install the osCommerce Web Application via their Control Panel. During the installation, they specified a home directory for osCommerce and an admin username and password. So, after the installation, they could access the admin GUI via http://domain.com/oscommerce/admin but when the tried logging in with the admin username and password they specified during the installation, the authentication fails. The only user that is able to login to the admin GUI is the FTP/Microsoft FrontPage Login. I'm sure this shouldn't be happening by default. Has anybody came across this issue and if so, what was your solution.

Thanks,

Morgan

Not very helpful

That read didn't really provide any answers. One guy had to reset the password for a user to gain access to the admin directory (which is not a solution, but a work around) and another guy trying to sell a different product all together. Why when you specify the admin user and password during the installation, these credentials do not work for the admin GUI? When a client sets this up on their domain and then tries to log in to the admin portal and fails, they will immediately have to raise a ticket with their hosting provider and the hosting provider will have to tell them that the user they created for this web application is pointless and that they need to use their FTP/Domain user creds. This is unacceptable in my opinion.

Does anybody know why the credentials specified during the osCommerce installation do not work?

Thanks,

Morgan
