Issue password-protected directories exclamation marks

Is there a reason why Plesk is not able to protect folders which begin with an exclamation mark? i.e. !!MyFolder/ ?
I programmed on my website to use folders with exclamation marks for a reason - but Plesk hinders me to protect them
Does anyone know a workaround on a debian system? A script to manage that via sceduled task ?
