Permission changing, is there a better way?

I moved my website over from CPanel hosting to parallels hosting, and my website requires that quite a few files and folders be Writable to the "Others" permssion, however, i have to go through each individual file in the file manager and alter their permissions.

Is there a quicker way to do this? a way thats like NTFS where if i change the permissions of one folder it changes any files and subfolders in there? if not im going to have to go through hundreds of files just to get half my site working again, getting more an more disappointed with parallels, unfortunately considering switching back to CPanel
