  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

permissions error using folders above httpdocs

New Pleskian
Hi buddys,

I recently purchased a multidomain plesk control panel.
I created a base domain hosted on the httpdocs folder: base_domain/httpdocs. For each additional domain I created a folder with this path:
base_domain/additional_domain.

Within the httpdocs folder I installed joomla 2.5 and permissions work well.

The problem is that within the folders of additional domains also have installed joomla 2.5 and folder permissions, despite being 755, I am not allow or edit files, or install extensions through joomla administration.

Please if anyone knows how to fix this, help me. thank you very much.

Hi buddys,
The problem is that within the folders of additional domains also have installed joomla 2.5 and folder permissions, despite being 755, I am not allow or edit files, or install extensions through joomla administration.

Check the owner of these files is set to your domain owner. How are you editing these files? By FTP? Through Plesk File Manager?

If you are unable to install additional Joomla Modules etc, it may be that the Modules folder owner is currently set to something other than the domain owner.

Also, how are you running PHP? FastCGI will work better with Joomla than Apache Module.

Hi buddy,

Thanks for your reply.

im goint to try to explain it a littel bit better:

I do upload the files by ftp and by plesk, with the same result. The owner is always the same user (ftp user) of psacln group. fastcgi is activated.

this is the structure of hosting:

is a multidomain web, with one web for country. The .com is the general domain.

- domain.com - at first level
-domain.us - at second level inside of first level
-domain.co.uk - at second level inside of first level
-domain.cn - at second level inside of first level
-httpdocs - at second level inside of first level

the thing is that when i install a joomla inside httpdocs folder it works fine. If i install a joomla inside, for example, domain.us folder, then the permissions do not work correctly.

Another thing that i´ve noticed:

For example, for the domain www.mydomain.us: I´ve configured that the root folder is httpdocs/us, then if i go through www.mydomain.com/us, then the permissions work, but i if go through www.mydomain.us, the permissions do not work.

Thank you.

Sorry for my english.
